What is salvage radiotherapy?

Following surgical removal of prostate cancer, the level of prostate-specific antigen (PSA), a key tumor marker, is monitored regularly.

If PSA levels begin to rise, salvage radiotherapy may be used. It is indicated in cases of biochemical recurrence of prostate cancer.

Salvage radiotherapy can help achieve local disease control and significantly reduce the risk of further cancer progression.
